Peades d'Aigua - PDA

Val d’Aran by UTMB®’s little sister is not so small! A different kind of race.

With a higher altitude at the start line than at the finish line, you will find more descent than ascent.
55 kilometres with 3,100 meters of elevation gain and 3,900 meters of elevation loss are waiting for you in this adventure through Naut Aran’s mountains.
A race that reaches 2,600m above sea level, where the National Park of “Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici” takes center stage. A fast but demanding race.

The start line will be allocated in Pla de Beret, a magic place in our mountains. After traversing the plateau, at 1,800 meters high, you will have to descend into the valley. A fast slope to get your legs going will bring you to Bagergue, declared one of the most beautiful villages in Spain; and then to Salardú, Naut Aran’s capital. From Salardú, the landscape changes completely, and a constant ascent starts to Colomèrs. You are now getting close to the National Park of “Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici”. The pass through Porèra will give you an outstanding panoramic view of all of the mountains in the Park. Right after you will go by Banhs de Tredòs, a natural hot spring that has been known since the Roman era, and which are the door to the National Park. You will then reach the cirque lake of Colomèrs, with more than 50 lakes which form the biggest glacial cirque in the Pyrenees. You will run by more than 20 lakes, reaching Pòdo’s pass, the highest point of the race, at 2,600m. On your descent to Estanh de Colomèrs, you will find a water spectacle and infinite views. You will leave Colomèrs lakes on your right side to confront Ribereta’s pass, part of the GR-11, and, when changing the valley, you will find Montcasau lakes. An easy and fast descent will take you to Ressèc, in the valley of Valarties. From there to the finish line, two final demanding ascents will be waiting for you; the 700 meter Còth de Coriedo, and the 300 meter Tuca’s peak. Once there, you will have Vielha at your feet. The last kilometres will be run through the forest taking you to the end of the race.
